When you’re investing in precast concrete, whether it’s for barriers, septic tanks, manholes, or retaining walls, you need more than just a product. You need a partner you can count on.
At Grosso Precast, we’ve seen too many projects run into issues because the right questions weren’t asked up front. So before you place your next order, here are six things worth asking your supplier. If they can’t answer with confidence, it’s time to keep looking.
1. Do You Hold Quality Certification and Document Your QC Processes?
Quality should never be a guessing game. If a part doesn’t meet spec, it can delay your project or create safety issues down the road.
That’s why Grosso Precast is a CPCQA-certified plant. Our team follows strict, documented quality control processes for every pour. From mould inspections to reinforcement checks to concrete testing, we’re tracking every step to make sure each product meets or exceeds industry standards.
If your supplier can’t show you proof of how they handle quality control, that’s a red flag.
2. Where Do You Source Your Materials, and Are They Traceable?
You can’t build strong products with weak materials.
We know exactly where every ingredient in our concrete comes from. All our materials – including steel, aggregates, and cement – are traceable through mill certificates and supplier documentation. We keep records on everything so we can stand behind what we build.
When you’re evaluating suppliers, ask them if they can tell you where their materials come from. If the answer is vague or uncertain, the quality of the final product could be too.
3. How Do You Ensure Proper Curing and Production Stability?
Curing is one of the most important steps in producing strong, reliable precast – and it’s also one of the easiest places for things to go wrong.
Our products are poured and cured in a climate-controlled environment, which means we manage temperature, humidity, and timing for every batch. It results in more consistent strength, fewer cracks, and long-term durability.
On-site pours can’t guarantee those conditions. Precast done right is all about control, and your supplier should be able to explain how they manage the curing process.
4. What Is Your Lead Time, Capacity, and Delivery Setup?
A quality product isn’t much help if it shows up late. Or worse, not at all.
At Grosso, we plan our production schedules carefully and operate our own Super-B and crane truck fleet to handle deliveries across Northern BC – from Williams Lake to Fort St. John and beyond. When you’re on a tight schedule, we show up ready to work.
Ask your supplier what kind of delivery support they provide. Do they rely on third-party logistics? What happens if a delivery window shifts? Your project depends on reliable coordination, and the answers should reflect that.
5. Can You Customize Products for My Project?
No two jobs are exactly the same, and your precast supplier should know how to handle custom requirements.
We help clients adapt standard designs or create custom solutions for specific project needs. That might mean modifying a barrier, adjusting the slope, or adding embedded features. We also offer aesthetic options like colored concrete and form liners when the job calls for it.
If your supplier can’t offer that level of flexibility, you may be stuck trying to make the wrong product work for the right job.
6. What Warranty or Support Comes After Delivery?
Even the best products need a support plan. Whether it’s maintenance, replacement parts, or troubleshooting an install, you want to know someone has your back.
At Grosso, we stand behind what we build. We offer clear warranty terms, responsive support, and real people you can call when you need help.
Before you order, make sure your supplier offers post-delivery support. If they disappear once the product is dropped off, that’s a risk you don’t want to take.
Why This Matters in Northern BC
Up here, the challenges are different. Harsh weather, long distances, and tight project windows mean you need a precast partner who’s built for more than just volume. You need one who can deliver quality under pressure and adapt to the realities of remote job sites.
We were built in this environment. We’ve been doing this since 1975, and we’ve shaped our business around the needs of contractors, municipalities, and developers in the North.
When you ask these questions, we don’t just have answers, we’ve got proof.
